Monthly Focus - Preschool - (Feb-April 2025)

Dear Parents and Carers,

Story of the month: Little Red Riding Hood & The Three Little Pigs

  • Celebration: Valentine's Day/Mother's Day/Easter

(Crafts made using different materials/baking delicious treats.)

  • Every Tuesday, preschool has a P.E. session where children are encouraged to change themselves independently. Please support this by providing opportunities at home for them to practice dressing themselves, using clothing that is easy to change, such as those without buttons. If your children are new to potty training, please provide the necessary spare clothing and wipes. Remind your children to let us know if they need assistance, as we cannot always be with them in the toilet.

  • Every morning, we ask the children what day of the week it is and what month it is. When dropping them off, please remind them of this, as well as any important dates, such as family celebrations.

  • In mathematics, we are focussing on counting from 1 to 10, and if possible, up to 20 in sequence. We aim to recognise the numbers 1 to 5, and potentially up to 10. Preschool children will be encouraged to bring objects when asked, using quantities of up to 5 or 10. They will also work on assembling puzzles with a minimum of 9 pieces. Additionally, it is important for them to confidently recognise basic shapes such as circles, triangles, diamonds, rectangles and squares. Once they are confident with these, we will move on to more complex shapes like hexagons, pentagons and crescents along with learning about the properties and sides of these shapes.

  • In our literacy area, we are focusing on recognizing, tracing and writing the letters in our names. We start with the first letter in uppercase and write the remaining letters in lowercase. Each month, we have different letters of the week. Please ask the staff in the room or your children about these letters, as they need to learn the sounds and words that begin with them. It is also important to read to your children at least once a week. This helps them understand the structure of storybooks, enhances their vocabulary, and stimulates their imagination.

Polite Notice:

The Nursery works according to a set of safeguarding policies in order to provide the best service possible to children and parents/carers alike.

It is vital that parents/carers work alongside with the Nursery's members of staff and management team to achieve our full potential.

Thus, complying with the right times for each session is crucial to maintain the ratio in the rooms, as well as the best operation of the nursery.

That way, please drop your children and pick them up at the right times. Nursery sessions run as follows:

Morning Session: 8:00am - 1:00pm

Afternoon Session: 1:00pm - 6:00pm

Request to Parents - Safeguarding Premises:

A reminder for all the parents who keep forgetting to close the door/gate behind themselves. It is very important to get use to this practice as it is a matter of safeguarding of the children in the nursery.

Thank you for your continued support and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Blandine Tamtchap

Nursery Manager
